Hi All, Does anyone else have problems with termites? My neighbours, Lincoln, Chong and even the new neighbour I met yesterday are having a problem in recent past or currently. Didn't our houses get anti termite treatment before being built? Maybe we need to put this on our next agenda.. I've been checking around my house... Any idea on how to pick termite infestation? Like any tell tale signs? Thanks.... Hope to be termite free soon...

OMG... I didn't expect to see termite problem so soon. My wooden furnitures are living in fear now. To be safe, better get a termite guy to come in and check the house. I always see the termite guy knocking on the door frames and parque to look for hollow places. They also look around for wood ashes. Guess these are the sign of termite qua... not that I'm the expert of termite.. ;D

Hi All, As I know the treatment done is only....they spray of chemical before the floor concrete is laid and this is not effective enough. That is why I already done my termite treatment during my renovation. The marks of the holes done can be seen if watch very carefully on my floor. . We need to read the clause of the termite treatment careful before raise this issue on the next meeting. Thanks.

I had termites problem on my previous house and let me warn you, spend if you hv too but get rid of the problem fast. Initially, termites will only eat the inside of the wood / kitchen cabinets and you wont notice it. Delaying will result in them destroying your cabinets etc as they spread fast.
Actually, the minute you detect termites dirt tunnels on the walls, you must act fast. One way is to drill holes around the house [hole parameter fencing about 1 feet apart] and pour the chemicals into the holes
The treatment usually last 3-5 yrs only and if you treat your house, there is high chances the termites will attack your neigbor's house because the queen is still alive living in the colony underground.
Cost: estimated RM1500 - RM2500
Detection: some ticking sound in your cabinets, some dirt tunnels on the wall, knocking on the wood for hollow sound.
There is another type of treatment [more expensive but good for you and the neighbors] whereby the termites were lured to a treated wood with poison. The termites will then go back to the colony with poisons on their body and infected the Queen. The colony will die if there is no Queen because the termites live on the Queens enzyme. [something like that la]
Best of luck

The PNHD office called me recently that they will take a check for termites at my house this coming 28th December. They told me that my neighbour is having the problem.
Anyone else received the similar call from PNHD?

Recently, I find sign of termites infestation in my wooden floor outside the washroom of the master bedroom.
Have engaged NLC for Sentricon system (baiting method that need not drill holes). Cost is RM2300 for 1st year, and annual renewal is 20% of initial fee. They will periodically send people to monitor, check and service the system within the maintenance contract period.
Price can be negotiated cheaper if I could find more neighbours sign for their service together. Anyone interested?
PS: I am Lincoln's neighbour. Since the termites problem keep on evolving, I believe the colonies are still around.
Well, this method might or might not do good to the neighbours without the system, because it only eliminates the termite colony that attack my house, but it does not eliminate those that does not attack my house, but attack neighbours' house instead.

When did you find the infestation Foong. Does Lincoln know yet? I'm sure he'd like too as he's probably going to be the one to bear the brunt of the attack........

Dear all, I am an ex-surveyor of a well known pest control company. Feel free to ask me should you need my advice on termite's issue. Like which treatment to be carried out, costing, differences of anti termite systems in the market. I saw some of you had engaged Sentricon. I do have some contacts if you're looking for pest control contractor. They can offer a competitive price for all the systems offered including Sentricon.
