Hi All, Not sure if it happened to you, but sometime last week, my house electrical appliance experienced something that looked like a lightning strike(I was not home). As when I return on Saturday, I found my alarm, lcd tv, lighting fan, a/c, broadband, etc. not working and a further investigation by the respective supplier saw that they experienced lightning strike. Test my ELCB was working but I wondered why it did not trip during the lightning strike, which could have prevented these damages. Spoken to PNHD today and got to know from him few other houses had similar issue since last week. One house from the same row even experienced every electrical item in the house burnt due to some cabling fault from TNB. Just thought I should share this..

So nobody experience any lightning issue? Well.. :'(I hope my house is not the highest in our neighbourhood... coz I have exprienced this crap twice this year.. it happened again last week. Instead of keep spending money unecessarily to replace my electrical appliances, lighting, fan, water heater, aircon, tv, alarm, is there anything I could do to prevent reoccurance?
I am willing to pay 50% of the cost for the person who is willing to install a lightning arrestor for their house, if they are in the 20m radius of mine. ;D

Probably you need to get someone to check for the grounding of your house. The grounding point is near the main entrance, in the garden area. I use a Power Saver in my house, and beside legally saving some bill charge, this device can also stabilize the electric current in the house. www.moresales.com.my/catalog/entry/izyafkth.shtml

Actually I have asked the developer to check during the first incident.. they brought someone.. and just check a few things and say.. the fuse box can only protect if lightning enters thru the front or main supply.. if lightning strike the antena or telephone cable.. it will still damage a few things.. now sure how true is that.
Any one know any good and honest electrician/specialist?

This power saver thing is reliable? how is the warranty and life span like? I love these things, but I know once they are reaching end of life, there will be issues and hassles.
Pls let us know if it really works.

i have just check this power saver. the idea is not new. is very old. they reduce the Ampere from 15A to 5A or a good one until 3A. With 3A you can use nearly everything. but a wash machine and a microwave together on the same plug , it would spring the fuse. because this two are use more then 3A. if you reduce the Ampere it will also reduce the Watts. you can save maximum 30% of the bill. But i got a more better idea. use a solar cells and a battery to make your own electricity. i make it for me house. cost me around 6000RM and no bill from Tenaga anymore. If we would buy together would get more cheaper. if you feel interested send me a email. info@ditaqcomputer.com
